Keepers of Water

1. In a quiet field the water flows

From where it comes nobody knows for sure

Lakes and rivers all around mirror systems underground

Our Mother’s veins a mystery, we threaten things we cannot see

CHORUS

We are the women Keepers of Water

Grandmothers taught us to move through this world with care

The voice of unborn sons and daughters

Cradled by our Mother Earth, waiting for their share in all her gifts

2. In a quiet field testing holes are driven down

And the way is barred from the people in the town

Like a severed artery, water rushing to be free

Sixteen acres flood we’re told in the February cold

3. In a quiet field cattle drink their fill

At a spring running free three generations from the hill

Will our children looking back upon all that we have done

Find safe water in a bottle and denounce Site 41
